Getting the Word Out

An exciting year is ahead of us at the Salem Bicycle Club. The most exciting is the overhaul of our signature event, the Monster Cookie Metric Century. 

The idea of taking such an established event and making any changes is daunting. The MC committee - Debbie Miller, Ken Freeman, Jim Miller, Jillian Trinkaus, Mary Schmidgall, Steve Budde, Robin Williams, Joanne Dewey, John Pink, and Wendall Goff - should be applauded. They created brand new routes that are safer and more scenic. They have also revamped the rest stops and adding one more making a total of three. While creating all this, they have looked at the expense side of the Monster Cookie and have made great strides to streamline and reduce expenses without raising the cost of the event itself.

This is the club's only fundraising event of the year and whatever net profit we make allows the club to thrive rather than just survive. I am asking all members, new and not new, to go to the Volunteer section of this website and to donate their time for one day. This way everyone can do a little rather than asking a small group do it all.

I am a believer that to receive we need to give. Giving is so easy to do and so rewarding.
