Off The Back October 2026

As we move into autumn, there is so much to appreciate about this time of year—cooler mornings, changing leaves, and some of the best riding conditions of the season still ahead. With our volunteering commitments completed for 2026, it is also a wonderful time to pause and reflect on all that the Salem Bicycle Club has accomplished so far this year.

I am incredibly proud of the good work we have done together—through our community outreach, our shared service, and the many people we have connected with and supported along the way.

So, what is next for the Salem Bicycle Club as we look ahead to the final three months of the year?

First, we will gather one more time to enjoy good food, swap stories, trade bike gear, and spend time together as a club. We will also take an important look toward the future by electing both new and returning board members who will help lead us into 2027.

In addition, we will begin planning our annual volunteer dinner—an evening dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the many members who give their time, energy, and heart to support our club and our community. We will also be sending out a survey to gather ideas for adding a few new awards and traditions to our already rich club history.

If you have not had a chance yet, be sure to visit the website. We recently updated and added more than 30 years of Spokes archives—there is some truly great reading there and a meaningful look back at the people, rides, stories, and milestones that have shaped the Salem Bicycle Club over the years.

There is still plenty to look forward to as we enjoy the fall season together. Great fall riding is coming, and I hope you will take advantage of the crisp air, colorful scenery, and the chance to share more miles and memories with fellow club members as we continue moving through the rest of the year.
