As some of you know Jim Ross was admitted to Salem Hospital on September 11. A successful pacemaker implantation to help him on his road to recovery.
Update as of 9.25.26-Doing Better and steadily progressing
Debbie Miller, Mary Schmidgall, and I went to visit Jim Ross on September 17th. He was in good spirits but spoke softly like he was very tired. He smiled at our joking conversation and even joked with us. He is recovering, too slow as far as Jim is concerned. His speech therapist came in while we were there, so we left the room with Jakey so Jim could have his session.
We sat in a waiting room and Jakey expressed how grateful she is that so many people visited from the bike club and how it lifted Jim’s spirits. Between the four of us we also managed to work out one of her current conundrums. Jakey has been too distracted to compose a thank you note to SBC, but she would like everyone to know that SBCers have shown such kindness and support! We brought Jim a card signed by many SBC people and a box of See’s Candies provided by the bike club that they both really appreciated.
Jim was taken aback by the number of signatures on the card and decided he would read them all later, when he didn’t have visitors. Jim and Jakey say thanks to all your thoughts and prayers and a special thanks to Rob Lunblad who was a very frequent visitor. It really meant a lot to Jim (Jakey also).
Jakey slept in the hospital for several nights and then when Jim began to recover, slept at home. Maybe slept is being too generous for her time at the hospital, as sleeping in a reclining chair while worrying about someone would not be my idea of a good night’s sleep.
Jim was in cardiac ICU for a few days, then moved to another floor. Next, Jim went to therapy at Transitional Care of Cascadia 3445 Boone Rd SE. He and Jakey could use our continued thoughts and prayers as they go through this ordeal.
